After reading chapters 9 and 10 it seems like there is so much that goes
into reading comprehension. I thought that the section on prior knowledge was
very interesting. I think that this made it clear why during undergrad the
professors always wanted a "Activating prior knowledge" category in
the lesson plan, because it is very important to the understanding of the
lesson. It seems to be the same in reference to reading a selection and makes a
lot of sense. The more someone knows about a topic the more they will
understand when they read about it. We really need to keep this in mind in the classroom.
