MODULE #1

The first module really emphasized how important it is, as a teacher, to get to know your students needs. It is imperative to know their needs before you can know what it is they are struggling with. I think something beneficial would be to assess at the beginning of the year and then make sure you keep assessing every so often to see the progress or to see where the student needs the extra support. Really, the only way to make sure a child is progressing is to use the different types of observations and different strategies Reutzel and Cooter listed in the textbook. The podcast and the textbook really reminded me how many different means there are to collect data and to use that data to drive our instruction as teachers.
